These don’t hold a candle to a Disneyland — or, let’s be real, a Costco — churro, but they are pretty freakin’ delicious compared to no churros.
Here’s how we do it…
1) Follow the directions on a bag of masa mix as though you're gonna make tortillas (which literally means, mix a little water in a bowl with the masa). The result should be sort of a wet cookie dough consistency.
2) Heat 2-3 inches of oil (we use vegetable) in a saucepan
3) Drop tablespoon(ish)-sized masa balls into the hot oil. If you've made Pancake Balls, follow the same routine -- let 'em bob and roll around for a minute or two.
4) Once golden brown, remove from oil and shake in a whole lotta cinnamon sugar.
